Golden Farmers' Market*Click here to download 2009 application Dates: The Market will run every Saturday, June 6 through October 3, except for Buffalo Bill Days weekend, July 25-26. Times: 8:00am-1:00pm, Fine Arts Festival weekend(Saturday, August 15th only), the market will remain open until 4:00pm. Location: the parking lot just west of the Library on 10th Street. Live music, free horse-drawn carriage rides through Historic Golden and an antique John Deere tractor will be at the market to admire. Garden décor, specialty treats, flowers and plants, and hard to find items fill up many of the booths. Enjoy and purchase fresh fruits and veggies, frozen fish and meats, fresh breads, canned condiments and sweets, locally-made wines, plus wonderful pasta and unique cooking ingredients. As a result of a grant from the Colorado Farmers Market Association, Golden’s market is going to be one of only a handful of Colorado farmers’ markets that will be able to participate in the Federal EBT/Food Stamp program. The market will accept the food stamp card for market dollars that can be spent on eligible items - namely, non-prepared foods intended to be eaten at home and seeds and plants with which to grow food. The cash program will also be accepted at the market. In addition, the wireless machine at the market can also accept debit cards. Market managers will offer $20.00 increments of Market Bucks to be spent at the market like cash. Another feature this year, the Golden Farmers' Market will be bringing in Master Gardeners from the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension office to do weekly demos and projects. Weekly topics will include: container vegetables, kids’ terrarium making, hanging baskets, rock gardening, and forcing bulbs. They will also offer tips and general gardening information. Be sure to watch for the signs and flags that show the way to the market location in the parking lot by the Golden Library. Stop by and enjoy all that this year’s farmers’ market has to offer.
